Details:
Come join us for a stroll around the circle for Phil Kline’s Unsilent Night!

If you've never attended an Unsilent Night before, think of it as modern caroling, except you let your boombox/bluetooth speaker do the singing. If you've participated before, you'll know Orange is the perfect location! Unsilent Night is a family-friendly, fun, free and unique holiday experience.
Here's the official description:

Unsilent Night is an original composition by Phil
Kline, written specifically to be heard outdoors in the
month of December, always as a free event. It takes
the form of a street promenade in which the audience
becomes the performer. Each participant gets
one of four tracks of music. Originally the music was
played using only cassette tapes in boomboxes, but
as vintage boomboxes have become harder to find,
more people use smartphones with portable speakers
to blast the music (by streaming audio or using
the free Unsilent Night app which randomly selects
one of the tracks to play). Together all four tracks
comprise Unsilent Night. Participants start playing
their devices simultaneously, then walk a carefully
chosen route through their city’s streets, creating
a unique mobile sound sculpture which is different
from every listener’s perspective. Visit
https://unsilentnight.com/participate
for more information.

We'll meet at the big Chapman University sign at Williams Mall, caddy-corner from Bruxie. (Glassell and Palm north of the circle).
The whole piece is about 45 minutes long, just long enough for a leisurely stroll around old town. The area/route is also very wheelchair friendly. We will be crossing streets.

WHAT TO BRING:
A copy of one of the tracks and a method to play it
Your portable amplified sound system
Shoes good for a walk.
A desire to make people smile in wonderment!

THE TRACKS: can be found at one of many places:

You can download them from here:
https://unsilentnight.com/participate
In "Step 2" Right click on the track and select save.

You can stream them directly from here:
https://soundcloud.com/unsilentnight

You can install the Android or iOS app from your app store. Highly recommend doing so ahead of time. Must be downloaded via wifi since it is LARGE. It holds copies of all 4 tracks.

RSVP and we will gladly bring you a CD for playback, or possibly a cassette tape if we can remember how to do that.

If you need help getting the music, please let us know, we'll help work it out.

SPEAKERS: Boombox is the traditional, but nowadays we see a lot of wireless bluetooth type speakers. We've had guitar amps in wagons or backpacks, computer speakers, even a Teddy Ruxpin once. If you have extra speakers, feel free to bring them, sometimes we pick up participants along the way, and you really can't have too many. The louder the better.

Please do not plan on using the speaker on your smartphone. It is weak, will not do the piece justice, and will probably just be drowned out.

SHOES: we'll be walking/standing for a good hour.

SMILES/WONDERMENT: Will be provided by the public upon viewing our unconventional parade!
